General of the North Ai Nengqi Boss Guide
General of the North Ai Nengqi is an optional boss encountered in Wuchang: Fallen Feathers. This guide covers his weaknesses, resistances, location, strategies for the fight, and the rewards you’ll receive for defeating him.
Weaknesses & Resistances
Section titled “Weaknesses & Resistances”Damage Type Weakness
Section titled “Damage Type Weakness”While specific elemental weaknesses are still under investigation, Ai Nengqi is particularly vulnerable to a certain type of physical damage.
- Recommended: Blunt Attacks Ai Nengqi has low mitigation against Blunt attacks. This means weapons and attacks with the Blunt property will deal significantly more damage compared to Slash or Stab attacks.
How to Beat General of the North Ai Nengqi
Section titled “How to Beat General of the North Ai Nengqi”This fight requires careful management of status effects and knowing when to create openings. Follow these strategies to gain an advantage.
-
Summon Nian Suichang to Split Aggro
Immediately upon entering the boss arena, use the Bone Whistle to summon your companion, Nian Suichang. Be aware that using the whistle triggers an animation during which you are vulnerable. Once summoned, Ai Nengqi will often change targets to attack Nian Suichang, giving you a crucial window to deal damage or heal.
-
Use Lightning Attacks
As an armored foe, Ai Nengqi is susceptible to Lightning damage. You can leverage this weakness in two primary ways:
- Bone Needle - Lightning: Unlock this skill node in the Impetus Repository.
- Thunderstorm: This powerful spell is dropped by an elite enemy located near the Rebel Camp shrine. Defeating this enemy also grants you the Rebel Camp Key, which is required to access Ai Nengqi’s arena.
-
Equip for Resistance
Ai Nengqi inflicts multiple status ailments. He uses attacks that build up Frostbite and Paralysis. When his health drops to about 50%, he imbues his sword with fire, adding Burn to his arsenal. Equip armor with high resistances to these three status effects to reduce their buildup and avoid being incapacitated.
-
Utilize Skyborn Might
When Ai Nengqi leaps into the air to fire his bow, perform a perfect dodge against his first arrow. This will grant you the Skyborn Might buff. After gaining the buff, maintain your distance from him. This will bait him into firing more arrows, allowing you to stack the effect and increase your damage output.
Cheese Strategy: Use the Arena Entrance for Cover
Section titled “Cheese Strategy: Use the Arena Entrance for Cover”For a safer, albeit less reliable, approach, lure Ai Nengqi towards the sides of the arena. There’s a chance he will jump to a corner near the entrance to fire his arrows. If he does, you can position yourself behind the impassable terrain at the entrance, which will block his shots. This provides a safe opportunity to heal, reapply weapon buffs, or use items.
Note that this method is not guaranteed to work. Ai Nengqi may land in a different spot where his arrows can still reach you.
