Bai Kru is an optional tutorial boss in Wuchang: Fallen Feathers, encountered early in the game. While you are not required to defeat it, winning the fight rewards you with some valuable early-game materials. This guide covers the best strategy to defeat it and its rewards.
Bai Kru is found near the Reverent Temple. After exiting the temple and going down the stairs, you will find a boatman near a campfire on the right. Speaking to the boatman triggers the fight. You only get one chance to fight Bai Kru.
As a tutorial boss, Bai Kru’s patterns are straightforward. The primary challenge is recognizing that its main lunge attack always has a follow-up. Avoid getting greedy after the first slam, dodge the second, and then punish the opening.
Bai Kru uses a series of fast, aggressive physical attacks.
Double Lunge Bai Kru jumps and slams the ground at your location. It will always perform this attack twice in a row. Be ready to dodge a second time after the first slam.
Heavy Ground Slam
The boss leaps high into the air and drops down for a single, powerful slam. Dodge in any direction just before it lands.
Backflip
If you are behind Bai Kru, it may glance over its shoulder and perform a quick backflip to create distance and deal damage. Dodge toward the direction its back was facing to close the gap again.
Swift Strikes
A combo of up to four fast claw swipes. The boss can cut this combo short at any time to transition into another move, so be cautious. Dodge forward to try and get behind it.
Consecutive Ground Pounds Bai Kru performs multiple ground pounds in quick succession. If you can, stay behind it during this attack to avoid the damage and get some hits in.
Sideward Torrent
The boss shoots a stream of water from its left to the right, then back to its left. Dodge in the opposite direction of the water’s path, or sprint behind it if you are close enough.
Description: Bai Kru leaps and slams the ground twice in a row. This is its most dangerous move for new players.
Strategy: The key is patience. Do not attack after the first slam. Wait for the second slam, dodge it, and then attack during the recovery animation.
Swift Strikes
Description: A fast combo of up to four claw swipes.
Strategy: The combo is quick, making it difficult to punish safely. It’s often better to create distance and wait for a more punishable move like the Double Lunge.
Sideward Torrent
Description: Sweeps a jet of water across the arena twice.
Strategy: If you are far away, dodge backward. If you are close, sprinting directly behind the boss will keep you safe and provide a good opportunity to attack.
