Master Raider Man-Eating Dhutanga is a main boss in Wuchang: Fallen Feathers, found in the Lightzen Temple. This fight will test your ability to manage spacing and punish telegraphed, heavy-hitting attacks. This guide covers the best strategy to defeat him, his full moveset, and all rewards.
From the Lightzen Temple shrine, enter the courtyard and pass through the zombie-like enemies. Go to the back of the rundown building and open the large gate to enter the boss arena.
This is a two-phase fight. The key is to play patiently, bait out his heavily telegraphed moves, and punish the recovery animations. In the second phase, all of his attacks will inflict Burn, making resistance crucial.
In this phase, Dhutanga uses a variety of spear attacks. Focus on identifying his slow startups to prepare your dodges.
Leap Attack
Dhutanga builds momentum and leaps, slamming onto the ground upon landing. Dodge forward to get behind and do a heavy attack. It’s usually followed by another attack.
Forward Charge
He plants his spear on the ground in front of him and charges toward you. The damage is dealt when he lifts his spear from the ground, so wait for a bit before dodging as he reaches you.
Downward Strike
He raises his spear above him and delivers a downward strike. Dodge to the sides to avoid the attack. This is usually the follow up to most of his moves.
Ground Smash
Dhutanga spins his spear overhead and smashes it into the ground. Dodge to either side and aim to get behind him to deliver a heavy attack.
Ground Stomp
He holds his spear at his side, then raises his leg and stomps the ground, dealing AoE damage. Move away from Dhutanga to avoid getting hit, or dodge just before his foot touches the ground.
Spear Burrow
Dhutanga plants his spear in the ground and kicks it to unburrow it. Both the planting and unburrowing deal damage. Once he plants his spear, dodge forward to get behind him and execute a heavy attack.
Spear Combo
A three-hit combo, consisting of an overhead slash, a sideway slash, and a stab at the end. These are all easily dodgeable, as the timing between his attacks matches the timing between your dodges.
At around 50% HP, Dhutanga coats his spear with flames, causing all his previous attacks to inflict Burn. He adds one new, powerful move.
Fireworks
Dhutanga coats himself in a red cloud, then breathes fire onto a ball, breathes fire in your direction, and finally throws the fiery ball into the air and hits it, causing a wide AoE explosion. He is stationary for the entire duration of the move.
Description: He leaps into the air and slams his spear down.
Strategy: This is his most punishable move. Dodge forward as he lands to get behind him for a free heavy attack.
Spear Burrow
Description: A two-hit attack where he plants his spear and then kicks it out of the ground.
Strategy: As soon as he plants the spear, dodge forward past him. You will avoid both hits and have a large window to attack his back.
Fireworks (CRITICAL)
Description: His new move in Phase 2. A long, multi-part fire attack where he remains stationary.
Strategy: This is your main damage window. As soon as you see him surrounded by red smoke, sprint behind him immediately. You are safe there and can attack freely for the entire animation.
