Huang Yan is located in the Treasure Trove. From the Snowfall Palace shrine, take the path to the right of the main palace stairs. Use the lever to call the elevator and ride it down to the boss area.
This is a two-phase fight against a highly mobile spellcaster. The key is to manage distance, survive her barrage of projectiles, and punish the openings she leaves after her major spell casts.
In her first phase, Huang Yan primarily uses spells to attack from a distance, inflicting Corruption and Frostbite. She will teleport frequently to reposition.
Twirling Kicks
She inhales from her pipe, infusing her kicks with frost, then performs two quick twirling kicks. Move away when you see the initial animation, then dodge the second kick.
Frost Stomp
She raises her legs and stomps the ground, creating a frosty mist upon impact. This is often the final attack in a combo; dodge away from her to avoid it.
Aerial Stomp
She jumps into the air and stomps down on your location. Dodge only when she’s about to land, as dodging too early will get you caught.
Teleport
Not an attack, but she will frequently teleport to get close or create distance. Keep the camera locked on her to track her position and be ready for an immediate follow-up attack.
Frosty Breath
She taps the head of her arctic fox scarf, releasing a cone of frosty breath in front of her. A simple dodge to the side is enough to avoid this.
Corruption Orbs
She looks at her pipe and lantern, then fires two volleys of five corruption orbs in a cone-shaped spread. It’s best to create distance to avoid the wide spread.
Corruption Projectiles
She points her pipe at you, summoning objects that fire projectiles toward you. Constant movement is key to avoiding these.
Giant Homing Orb
She floats in the air and releases a giant, slow-moving orb of corruption that fires its own smaller projectiles as it follows you. Keep your distance from the main orb and focus on dodging the smaller projectiles until the main orb dissipates.
Crimson Blast
She taps her lantern, creating a point-blank AoE explosion around her. Immediately dodge away when you see her tap the lantern.
At 50% health, Huang Yan gains the ability to transform into a giant arctic fox, adding aggressive melee attacks to her kit.
Consecutive Frost Kicks
An enhanced version of her Phase 1 attack. She now executes four consecutive kicks. Dodge repeatedly, as the timing between each kick matches your dodge interval.
Arctic Fox Transformation
She transforms into a giant Arctic Fox, hovering in the air before lunging her entire body toward you. This is often followed by her melee kick attacks, so be ready to dodge a second time.
Description: She floats and summons a large, slow-moving orb that continuously fires smaller projectiles at you.
Strategy: This is a great opportunity to attack her. While she is stationary in the air, you can hit her with ranged spells. Focus on dodging the small projectiles while you attack.
Corruption Orbs
Description: Fires two waves of five corruption orbs in a wide cone.
Strategy: Getting hit by the full spread can be fatal. Create distance as soon as you see her look at her pipe and lantern to easily avoid the attack.
Arctic Fox Lunge (Phase 2)
Description: In Phase 2, she transforms into a large fox and lunges across the arena.
Strategy: This move is fast and covers a lot of ground. Dodge to the side as she lunges. Be prepared for her to immediately follow up with her kick combos upon landing.
